About M4C

EVERY GIRL DESERVES ROOM TO GROW

For more than a decade, M4C Foundation has been creating spaces where girls can learn, lead, feel supported, and imagine what is possible for their lives.

Our work has evolved from its beginnings in Texas to communities across the United States and Africa.

But one thing has remained constant:
WE BELIEVE IN GIRLS.

WHERE IT BEGAN

IT STARTED WITH AN IDEA.

2015

In 2015, founder Samira Maddox and a group of college friends in Texas began Muslimahs for Change.

The early years were about showing up, serving, learning, and discovering where the organization could make the greatest difference.

As the work grew, one group increasingly became the center of that vision:

GIRLS.

GIRLS SHOWED US THE WAY

We Started Creating Spaces Where Girls Could Grow.

It began with a simple idea to bring girls together to learn, connect, and discover their potential. From our first summit to ongoing leadership programs, each step created new opportunities for girls to grow, lead, and imagine what was possible.

YOUNG MUSLIMAH SUMMIT

Girls gathered to learn, connect with women they could look up to, and begin discovering their own voices.

LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Leadership summits and conferences created new spaces for girls to learn, lead, and imagine what was possible.

JMDA / LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

An early leadership academy created additional opportunities for girls to develop beyond a single event.

THE MISSION GREW

WHAT IF SUPPORTING A GIRL MEANT MORE THAN A PROGRAM?

In 2018, the vision for Sakina Home for Girls began taking shape.
For orphaned and vulnerable girls, opportunity begins with something even more fundamental:
Safety. Home. Education. Care. Belonging.
That vision eventually became Sakina Home for Girls in Kenya.
M4C was no longer only creating experiences for girls.

WE WERE HELPING CREATE A PLACE WHERE GIRLS COULD TAKE ROOT.

OUR FOUNDER

SOME IDEAS BECOME PART OF YOUR LIFE'S WORK.

As the organization evolved and the college years ended, founder Samira Maddox continued building the work.

Year after year, she developed programs, built partnerships, raised support, listened to girls and families, and continued asking a question that would shape M4C:

WHAT DO GIRLS NEED NEXT?

That question became a thread connecting M4C’s earliest programs to the foundation it is today.

What began as an idea among college friends became a long-term commitment to keep showing up for girls.

THE VISION TRAVELED FURTHER

OUR LEADERSHIP WORK CROSSED CONTINENTS.

In 2023, M4C helped create the AfriGirl Conference at the University of Ghana, bringing girls together around leadership, learning, mentorship, and possibility.
The experience offered another glimpse of what M4C’s years of girls’ leadership work could become:
THE MODEL COULD TRAVEL.

OUR CIRCLE GREW WIDER

WE DISCOVERED THERE WAS ROOM FOR EVERY GIRL.

In 2024, Rooted Girls brought together approximately 140 girls from different backgrounds and communities.

The experience helped M4C imagine something bigger: spaces built from our values while intentionally welcoming an even wider community of girls.

In 2025, M4C began reaching directly into local schools.

Girls came. Families came. Communities responded.

And a decade of learning began blooming into something new.
