The journey of the M4C Foundation began in 2014 at the University of Texas at Dallas, where Samira Maddox and her friends envisioned creating a supportive community for Muslim women. This idea initially took shape as a sorority named Muslimahs for Change (M4C).
However, to align with traditional Greek naming conventions, the sorority was renamed Mu Delta Alpha. Under Mu Delta Alpha, the organization achieved significant milestones, including organizing leadership summits for girls and establishing the Sakina Home and Education Center in Isolo, Kenya. Recognizing the need to clearly distinguish between sorority activities and broader community initiatives, the decision was made in 2023 to re-establish the original vision of M4C as a foundation.
Samira’s journey from an orphaned girl to the founder of M4C Foundation is a testament to the power of opportunity and support. With a background in Speech-Language Pathology and an MBA, Samira combines her academic expertise with a profound personal understanding of the challenges faced by the girls we serve.
